Solidarity with the Embassy Protection Collective! U.S. Hands off Venezuela!

Saturday, May 18 | 12pm | Venezuela Embassy (1099 30th St NW, Washington, DC)

BREAKING UPDATE: On May 16 around 9:30am, in a flagrant violation of international law, U.S. federal and other police agencies broke into the Venezuelan Embassy in DC and arrested the 4 who remained from the Embassy Protection Collective. This action has provoked international outrage. Click here to view livestream of this morning's events from TeleSur.

We salute and send solidarity to these courageous activists who have heroically defended the Embassy from right-wing coup supporters and the US for nearly 40 days. This outrageous provocation underscores the necessity and urgency of the mobilization planned for this Saturday, May 18, at 12noon at the Venezuelan Embassy. Developments are continuing to break, so please be on the lookout for further updates and ways to take action in solidarity with the Protectors and the people of Venezuela.

Solidarity activists are converging on Washington, D.C. this Saturday in support of the Embassy Protection Collective. They have spent nearly 40 days defending the Venezuelan Embassy from being seized by the US government and racist Guaido supporters.

On Monday, U.S. Marshals attempted to evict these activists from the Embassy, and have continued to threaten arrests since. But the people's fightback inside and outside the embassy forced the Marshals to back down and leave without arrests! The Embassy Protection Collective issued this statement on Monday as these developments were unfolding.

On Thursday, Rev. Jesse Jackson and other activists successfully delivered food and other supplies to those who remain inside the Venezuelan Embassy.

The U.S.-backed coup attempts in Venezuela have failed utterly in the face of the overwhelming popular mobilization of the Venezuelan people to defend the Bolivarian Revolution. In spite of this, the U.S. government continues to threaten military intervention in Venezuela, and has implemented a host of criminal sanctions against the Venezuelan people, engaged in cyber-warfare, and has supported .

They have tried desperately to overturn the Bolivarian Revolution to regain control to exploit and plunder the world's largest oil reserves. But they have been dealt defeat after defeat by the determination of the people of Venezuela and a vibrant international solidarity movement against imperialism.

Now is a critical time not only to mobilize in solidarity with the struggle to defend the Venezuelan Embassy in DC, but to demonstrate broad opposition of people in the U.S. to war plans against Venezuelan and express solidarity with the people's struggle there.

Confront the NATO War Makers March 30!

Demand: No War on Venezuela!

The week of March 30 to April 7 is a gathering of war makers in Washington DC. They must be opposed!

No to NATO, War & Racism! No War on Venezuela! Join a major demonstration in front of the White House on March 30

US generals and the war planners of NATO are gathering for a “Summit Meeting” April 4.

NATO is the aggressive US commanded military alliance responsible for massive death, destruction, homelessness and waves of refugees in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Syria and Libya.

At past NATO Summits of the war makers, people around the world have organized massive protests: in Chicago (2012), Wales (2014), Warsaw (2016), Brussels (2017 & 2018) There were mass protests at the Washington DC Summit to expand NATO in 1999.

Now in 2019 at this NATO Summit we must denounce NATO's continuing wars and the coming war on Venezuela.

Join 'No War on Venezuela' contingents in DC at the March 16 Hands off Venezuela and the March 30 No2NATO mobilizations. We will deliver signatures on President Nicolás Maduro's 'Open Letter to the People of the U.S.' directly to the White House.

For the last 5 months across the US activists have been making plans to confront the NATO Generals and demand: Stop the Wars! Say No to NATO, War and Racism!

The No2NATO2019 mobilization helped to organize the February 23 Global Day of No War on Venezuela in 153 cities around the world. Now international activists are coming to Washington DC on March 30.

WHY? Because a new US war is on the horizon – on Venezuela

  • First the US imposed drastic sanctions and economic destabilization on Venezuela.
  • Meanwhile Colombia was ominously accepted as a global partner of NATO. This brings a foreign military alliance with nuclear capability into Latin America.
  • Then on January 23 the Trump Administration attempted a coup to overturn the elected government in Venezuela.
  • All the members of the NATO military alliance rushed to immediately recognize the self-appointed US puppet Juan Guaido.

In Venezuela and around the world this past month millions of people have been in the streets opposing a new US war.

As Trump declared that: “all options are on the table”, demonstration organizers were unanimous in immediately centering the demonstration opposing US/NATO wars on the escalating war threat on Venezuela!

We invite you to Washington DC to confront the War Makers Summit and to raise a united demand: No to NATO, War & Racism! No War on Venezuela!

We urge you to support all protests and actions against US/NATO wars.

Join us on Saturday March 30 in the streets and join a week of meetings, conferences and street actions from March 30 to the April 4 Black Alliance for Peace meeting on the anniversary of the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King.

We invite you to add your, and/or your organization’s name to the list of supporters of the anti-NATO, Anti-War and Anti-Racism mass actions in Washington DC.

As President Trump announces that the U.S. will recognize opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s new leader and sitting President Nicolás Maduro breaks off relations with the United States, we speak with a former U.N. independent expert who says the U.S. is staging an illegal coup in the country. Alfred de Zayas, who visited Venezuela as a U.N. representative in 2017, says, “The mainstream media has been complicit in this attempted coup. … This reminds us of the run-up to the Iraq invasion of 2003.” We also speak with Miguel Tinker Salas, professor at Pomona College and author of “The Enduring Legacy: Oil, Culture, and Society in Venezuela” and “Venezuela: What Everyone Needs to Know.”

ALFRImage result for alfred de zayas venezuelaED DE ZAYAS: Well, the mainstream media has been complicit in this attempted coup. The mainstream media has prepared, through a conundrum of fake news, an atmosphere that the public should accept this regime change imposed by the United States on the people of Venezuela because, ultimately, it’s supposed to be for the good of the Venezuelans.

Now, this reminds us of the run-up to the Iraq invasion of 2003. Now, the mainstream media supported all the lies, all the manipulations of George W. Bush and of Tony Blair to convince the world that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. And on this excuse, it was made somewhat palatable to world public opinion that you would enter Iraq and change the government by force. Now, the fact is that here you had not only a crime of aggression, not only an illegal war, as former—the late Secretary-General Kofi Annan, in more than one occasion, stated. Here you have actually a revolt of 43 states, the “coalition of the willing,” against international law. ❤If there is one tenet of the U.N. Charter that is jus cogens, that is peremptory international law, it’s the prohibition of the use of force. And this attack on Iraq was conducted by 43 states in collusion, breaking all the rules of international law. Now, that was preceded by this media campaign.

Now, we have had, for the last years, actually, a media campaign against Venezuela. And I am particularly familiar with it, because before I went to Venezuela, I had to read everything and all the reports, not only of The Washington Post and of The New York Times, but also the reports of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the reports of Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, etc., proposing that there was a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.

Now, when I went to Venezuela, I again took the opportunity to interview representatives of Amnesty International and PROVEA and the other opposition NGOs, but I also had the opportunity to study the documents, to compare, to see the statistics, etc., etc. And, of course, there was no humanitarian crisis. There was hunger. There was, what we say in Spanish, zozobra. There was suffering. There was malnutrition, etc., etc. But it’s not just stating that there is an economic crisis. That’s not the crucial point. The crucial point is which are the causes of that so-called humanitarian crisis. And certainly, those who are crying humanitarian crisis should be the least to say that they should now solve the problem. There’s a principle of international law called ex injuria non oritur jus, which is the principle to estoppel. So they should be estopped from demanding regime change when they themselves are the ones who are aggravating a situation, caused initially by the dramatic fall of the oil prices.

I wanted to make a reference to a professor, Pasqualina Curcio, of the University of Caracas. I had the opportunity of seeing her for a couple of hours when I was there. And she published a book called The Visible Hand of the Market. This is a book that documents the financial blockade, documents the whole complex economic war being waged against Venezuela, which reminds you of the economic war that was waged against Salvador Allende. And what’s interesting is, after three years of economic war against Allende not succeeding in toppling Salvador Allende, it took a coup d’état by General Augusto Pinochet, which brought the Chilean people 17 years of dictatorship.

We should be asking ourselves: Do we want a coup d’état in Venezuela? And what legitimacy would the government of Guaidó have? And what kind of elections would be held? Now, there have been, as I said, 26 or 27 elections in Venezuela since 1998. And President Jimmy Carter and the Carter Center went repeatedly to Venezuela to monitor those elections. And Carter had a very good opinion of the system and of the safeguards of elections in Venezuela. So, if the opposition really considers itself democratic, it has to play the democratic game, and it has to participate in the elections. They have chosen to boycott the elections over the last years.

And another thing that I think it’s important to notice is that the mainstream media has always presented the opposition as peaceful demonstrators. Now, there are ample videos, photographs of the violence committed by the so-called guarimbas in Venezuela in the years 2014, especially 2017. I had the opportunity of interviewing not only victims of police brutality in Venezuela, but also victims of the guarimbas—persons who were just trying to go from point A to point B, and there was a barricade somewhere, and then they were either killed or they were seriously injured or burned. I interviewed them when I was there.

So, I must say, audiatur et altera pars, let’s listen to both sides, and let us not just concentrate, as the mainstream media does in the United States, on the arguments of the opposition. You also have to take into account the 7, 8 or 9 million Venezuelans, who are human beings, who have democratic rights, who have expressed those democratic rights in their ballot box. And you simply cannot shove them away.

Venezuela: Chronicle of a coup d ' état

By: Carlos Alberto Escorcia Polanco

Both the U.S. Department of state and the Oas Secretary General, Luis Almagro knew in advance that they did not have the necessary votes in the oas permanent council to officially recognize the self-proclaimed President Juan Guaido of Venezuela.

If you already knew that you did not have the necessary votes of the oas member countries, to achieve an official resolution that knew the government of Nicolas Maduro and in turn formally ungiera with the recognition of the highest regional body to the car proclaimed Juan Guaidó, Why did you call the permanent council of the organization to a special session and consider the issue of Venezuela?

They took the theme at the highest level to climb their international media and diplomatic pressure as part of the psychological war that Washington drives and promotes against the regime of Caracas and as part of an effort to achieve a change of regime in Venezuela for another that puts the Vast oil deposits at the service of the great oil corporations of the United States.

It was about riding a political circus to make mockery of a Latin American government that does not submit to the dictates of the white house. It is a brutal offensive to demoralize the Chavez people and their leadership to give way to the same ones who already tried failed by the way, overthrow in the year 2002 TO PRESIDENT HUGO CHAVEZ COLD.

However, Washington's efforts to re-enter the opulent classes and the "Riquitos de Caracas" in the palace of miraflores, are all doomed to failure.

Already in April 2002, when the same forces of Venezuela temporarily managed to overthrow President Hugo Chavez, Washington immediately recognized the coup, only to face the reality of a village that surrounded the palace of miraflores and made the president of the coup flee , the president of fedecamaras, pedro carmona estanga.

Today Washington tested the same coup with some variants, but combining all the steps listed in the soft blows manual of the CIA ideologue, Gene Sharp, who perfected a " Non-violent " method of overthrowing non-Washington governments without " Boots on the ground " (American troops on the stage of the facts).

On this occasion, the white house has thrown them all. It has imposed financial sanctions against high officials of the Chavez government, against companies linked to Chavez and against relatives of high officials of Chavez.

These go from the freezing of bank accounts in the United States, confiscation of properties, visa cancellation and ban on entering the United States.

In addition to these sanctions, the United States has forbidden its citizens and companies operating within its borders to perform operations with venezuelan cryptocurrency called "Petro" but which is recognized by countries such as Russia, China and Iran.

The United States meets a hard bone to crack in the case of Venezuela, given the diplomatic defeat suffered in the oas when they failed to gather the votes so that the oas officially recognized Juan Guaido, the puppet of the United States, self-proclaimed president without A Single Venezuelan citizen voted for him.

To the defeat suffered by the United States and the former venezuelan coup oil mafia in the oas, we must add the wrecking statement of general Vladimir Godfather Lopez Minister of defence of Venezuela expressing his absolute loyalty to the democratically elected president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moors.

The United States and the venezuelan coup have done the swedes against the defeat suffered at the oas permanent council in Washington.

The unusual situation was given in which the secretary of state himself, Mike Pompeo attended the meeting and publicly gave his Latin American puppets to recognize the coup guaidó as the legitimate president of Venezuela, although he has not been elected by the people.

At The Oas Permanent Council in Washington, 34 countries of the western hemisphere are represented, with the only exception of Cuba that was expelled more than half a century ago.

Of those 34 countries, only 16 recognized the self-proclaimed puppet President Juan Guaidó. That means that 18 countries do not recognize the coup of the venezuelan oligarchy.

The Department of state of the United States and its ministry of colonies, known as oas, including its secretary general, Luis Almagro, knew perfectly in advance that they did not have the votes necessary to ignore Nicolas Maduro and recognize Juan Guaidó, but decided Move on with your diplomatic and media circus.

Ardidos for defeat in the oas and for the declaration of loyalty of the armed forces, the United States immediately convened the un security council for an emergency meeting this Saturday January 26 in New York.

Simultaneously the United States requested England not to deliver to the government of Maduro $ 1,200 million in gold, deposited in English banks. England illegally froze those funds owned by the people and government of Venezuela.

The great speakers or sewers of imperialism such as cnnenespañol, Telemundo, univision, and the entire chain of diaries owned by Latin American oligarchies completely hide the fact that in the security council, Russia and China have veto power and will be able to block any council resolution Security that seeks to recognize the puppet President, self-proclaimed and not elected by the people juan guaidó.

Many people wonder, but because despite the virulent imperialist rhetoric of the United States against Venezuela, is this still buying oil to the government of Maduro?

The answer is simple. The American government is not dedicated to import oil, nor to re-use it, much less to re-export it in the form

The sale of oil by Venezuela to the United States is made not to the government but to American multinational corporations such as the valero corporation and Exxon Mobile.

This is a round and multi billionaire business. The oil corporations already mentioned buy in oil in crude state, they refine it, turn it into gasoline and derivatives and then re-export it to Venezuela.

The Venezuelan crude is much cheaper and superior quality to Saudi Arabia and there are 6 times more fences from the United States that cost the costs.

No American corporate executive in their right mind will give up such astronomical gains, which constitute a real round business in billions of dollars.

The Demagogue politicking fascist of Florida, the Republican Senator, the "little frame" as Donald Trump said, during the presidential primaries, Marco Rubio, I declare by cnnenespañol the women's beater, Fernando from the corner who were, did not clarify who were, negotiating With The Oil Oil Valero and exxon mobile so they didn't buy oil to the government of Maduro but his puppet Juan Guaidó.

Neither the "crafty" Interviewer, the fascist of extreme right Fernando Del Rincon, nor his interviewed Marco Rubio explained how he would do the puppet Juan Guaidó to make the oil wells of Venezuela, take them to pdvsa and sell them to American Oil Oil. That ridiculous bigger, that absurd of absurd.

The openly coup strategy of the United States, is a disgusting and disgusting mockery and an insult to the dignity of the Venezuelan people, by holding $ 1,200 million on one side and then offering a bad call "Humanitarian Aid" of 20 million From dollars on the other, to alleviate hunger caused by the same imperialist aggression.

As former President Rafael Correa said, the world has to react. The darkest forces of American imperialism in conjunction with the arrogant, subservient classes of Latin American oligarchies have closed rows to drown in blood the dreams and aspirations of the noble Venezuelan people.

Venezuelan oil is not only very close to the United States but is of higher quality than produced in the middle east and is 6 times closer to the United States.

All the above costs the costs and makes it much more competitive to Venezuelan oil above the crude from Saudi Arabia.

It is also no secret that oil reserves in the orinoco basin are the largest on the planet. Venezuela also owns 20 % of the world reserves of the world's main minerals such as copper, iron and gold.

Both the United States and the dominant and displaced elites of power with the arrival to the power of Hugo Chavez cold, wish to snatch the people their immense natural resources to return the caracazos of the time of Carlos Andres Perez, when they removed the military tanks to massacre To the people like Carlos Andres Perez, great friend of Violeta Barrios de Chamorro, the woman who gave the heritage of the people of Nicaragua up to 17 billion dollars and stayed as quiet as he had not done anything.

The children of Bolivar and the disciples of Chavez, with Nicolas Maduro to the head will defeat. The Venezuelan army has spoken clear, very clear.

The Puppet Juan Guaidó does not have how to guarantee American oil corporations the supply of Venezuelan crude.

When the Nicaraguan people fought to death in hard struggle against the dictatorship of South America, the Simon Bolivar Battalion, composed of Panamanian, Colombian, Argentine, Uruguayan, Chilean, Costa Rican and Venezuelan, came from South America.

Today the Latin American peoples must close ranks and come out in defense of the nation that generously shares their resources in a fair way with the poor countries of the hemisphere

Venezuela is not alone, the patriots of the big fatherland rise to defend it. The Venezuelan people knee on earth will not allow the imperialist mercenary forces to advance.

The land of the liberator Simon Bolivar, the people of the revolutionary giant Hugo Chavez and the militants of the unified socialist party of Venezuela, psuv led by the first soldier of the fatherland, Nicolas Maduro Moors are writing right now the most brilliant and heroic pages of the History of that town brother of South America.-
